Key Responsibilities of the Data Engineer

– Take an active role in hands-on software development for a large-scale data project hosted in a cloud environment. – Understand how your work aligns with broader organizational goals and adapt your efforts to ensure the systems you develop meet those objectives. – Collaborate effectively across engineering teams to deliver scalable, adaptable solutions that are loosely coupled and efficient. – Uphold high coding standards by conducting code reviews and modeling best practices in your own work. – Help break down large team objectives into smaller, manageable tasks to ensure clarity and focus.

– Provide accurate estimates for EPICs and user stories to aid in project planning and execution. – Contribute to agile sprint cycles, reinforcing disciplined practices and ensuring smooth project execution. – Offer architectural guidance to support various projects within the team. – Act as a mentor to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering growth and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

– Proven expertise in one or more programming languages such as Scala, Python, SQL, Django, Java, or JavaScript.

– Experience working with cloud infrastructure (e.g., Amazon Web Services – EC2, EBS, RedShift, EMR, RDS, CloudFormation, etc.).

– Knowledge of big data processing frameworks such as Spark, MapReduce, or Hadoop.
